Mother and Child I
The life-sized woman sits on the floor. Next to her lap, leaning against her, rests a baby, its small hands relaxed, its head gently tilted to the side, as if it has fallen into a deep, peaceful sleep.
The mother isn't looking at the child. Her eyes are fixed on an invisible point in the distance. A moment of silence, brimming with stories. Doubts, memories, worries, and hopes seem to settle on her face. It is the gaze of a mother who watches even though her child sleeps, who thinks even though the world is silent.
The baby lies sleeping in its tranquility – a gentle contrast to the mother's inner turmoil. An invisible bond stretches between them: strong, intimate, yet fragile.
They carry a whole lifetime in their silent encounter. Whoever observes them is inevitably drawn in: by the tenderness, the melancholy, the quiet, inexplicable feeling they radiate. It is as if the clay has captured a piece of humanity.
