Sculptor Franziska John works with clay. Her figures are built directly and show subtle nuances of posture and expression.
Born in 1969, Franziska John lives and works in Weesen, Canton St. Gallen. She has been working as a freelance artist since 2013. In her studio, she creates figures from clay, built using a hollow technique. Her works range from small formats to life-sized sculptures. The human form is central to her work. Facial expressions, gestures, and body posture are meticulously crafted. John's figures capture everyday situations and immortalize quiet, often fragile moments. The sculptures enter into a direct dialogue with the space and the viewers and are regularly displayed in public spaces and exhibitions.
