Blöffsack

An acrobatic dialogue between tradition and exuberance

Amidst the historic backdrop of Hünigen Castle Park, Jürg Ruess makes a striking statement. His sculpture «Blöffsack» breaks with the static tranquility of the garden and challenges the viewer's gaze with an apparent contradiction: Massive bronze meets floating lightness: SHOWTIME

The figure presents itself in an acrobatic pose that seems to know no limits. As a supposed jack-of-all-trades, it performs acrobatics in the trees, seeking the audience's attention. But the title «Blöffsack» exposes the game – it is the humorous depiction of a show-off, whose impressive feat of strength only exists through the balance between overconfidence and true mastery.

Those who aim high often lose their footing. The sculpture embodies this human aspiration and the fragility of self-presentation. Amidst nature, the rough, vibrant surface of the bronze appears organic and powerful at the same time, while its substantial weight of over 180 kg underscores the seriousness behind the playful pose.
