Jürg Ruess is a sculptor, painter, and draftsman who explores space, movement, and the human form in large-format sculptures, drawings, and bronzes.
Jürg Ruess was born in Au SG in 1953. He grew up in a family involved in the embroidery industry and initially worked as an embroidery designer, including several years in Australia. After running his own embroidery business, he turned to fine art in the 1990s. Since 2004, he has worked as a freelance sculptor, painter, and draftsman. In his practice, he explores floral forms, architectural structures, and the human body. He is interested in movement, light, and individual perspectives. His works are born from precise observation and a sensitive approach to form and physicality.
