Over 100 species are cultivated in the hotel's own garden. The collection of different mints alone comprises 35 varieties.
That's what makes the difference, explains Fabian Reppel, who is responsible for the plants: "A mint that tastes like orange is better suited for dishes than, for example, one with a sharp camphor flavor, which is more suitable for tea."
Herbs and drinks definitely go together, which is why Hotel Schatzalp offers a special guided tour: Botany in a Glass. On the tour, participants trace the ingredients of gin and absinthe in the local garden, tasting included.
