From a long list of herbs, roots, and flowers, spirits expert Arthur Nägele from Rheineck created the gin recipe. In addition to essential, imported gin ingredients, the secret recipe contains only herbs and flowers from the Garden Hotels – one ingredient from each hotel garden. Coriander, elderflower, lavender, rosebuds, wild thyme, and much more can be found in this exquisite spirit. The botanicals – the selected herbs, spices, and flowers – are added to the diluted pure alcohol and steeped. Some aromas develop better in water, others in alcohol, which is why the pure alcohol is diluted with water. The alcohol and botanicals are distilled in copper stills and can be enjoyed after a short maturation period. The gin is distilled and bottled at the Zürcher distillery in Dinhard.
