Tradition, Design, and Hospitality Under One Roof

Gasthaus Traube

In Buchs SG, you'll find a boutique hotel designed with great attention to detail, combining the charm of a traditional inn with the elegance of a modern hideaway.

Scandinavian simplicity, timeless classics, and carefully selected unique pieces with a story, created in close collaboration with Danish-Swiss interior designer Ruth Kramer, lend a special warmth and quality to the interior. The high quality and pleasant feel of the materials used create an understated, soothing aesthetic where you immediately feel at home.

The heart of the property is the extraordinary garden, which connects the two buildings and opens up its own small world full of peace and beauty. The garden is divided into several intimate, thematically designed areas: a fragrant wildflower garden, quiet spots under shade-giving trees, secluded corners by the water courtyard, as well as a raised platform over the natural pond, from which the interplay of light and water can be observed. Everywhere, gently trickling fountains ensure that the element of water is palpable in various ways and creates an atmosphere of soothing serenity.

At the center of this ensemble, the tradition of the inn and the modernity of a boutique hotel merge into an oasis of relaxed encounters. Here, guests enjoy unadulterated sensory pleasures – from the lovingly maintained garden to the exquisite cuisine, which showcases regional products with creative finesse.

The wine list features carefully selected wines from the local region and Switzerland, complemented by international premium wines. Over 1100 different wines and champagnes are stored in the historic vaulted cellars – one of the country's most extensive collections, with a special focus on European wines. Thus, every stay becomes a quiet celebration for connoisseurs.

Where wine grows right outside the hotel door
Vines, gardens, and sweeping views go hand in hand in many parts of Thurgau. At two garden hotels, this connection goes even further: Kartause Ittingen and Arenenberg grow their own grapes and produce wines that are inextricably linked to their location.

Culinary delights from the garden: When herbs, vegetables, and flowers grow right outside the kitchen door
It doesn't get any fresher than this: at some Garten Hotels in Switzerland, an ingredient's journey doesn't start with a supplier, but just a few steps from the hotel kitchen. Herbs, vegetables, berries, and edible flowers grow right in the hotel's own garden and make their way onto your plate according to the season. The result is dishes that combine regionality, sustainability, and culinary delight in a truly special way.
