The Invitation
The installation «die einladung» invites you to consciously experience the park as a place of leisure, being, and encounter.

with oneself and others
Parkhotel Gunten was built in 1910 on a park-like meadow directly by the lake. Its architecture is inspired by Art Nouveau and Neo-Baroque forms, typical for spa and holiday hotels during the Belle Époque. Its location, directly on Lake Thun, surrounded by a large park with views of Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau, was particularly renowned.
The mature trees are particularly impressive. In particular, the copper beech, two sequoias, and the sculptural-looking chestnut trees invite visitors to stroll and sit down. The park exudes peace and a sense of being, inviting visitors to linger.
‘die einladung’ takes up the venerable park as a place of contemplation. The golden painted chairs and stones from the Grimsel region are an invitation to enter the park and marvel at and enjoy the views of the lake, mountains, or sky.
The park's trees appear sculptural, and we understand ‘die einladung’ also as a tribute to the venerable copper beech and the two imposing sequoias.
