Autumn is slowly making its entrance, the first leaves drifting to the ground. Around the historic Wartegg Castle on picturesque Lake Constance, shades of brown, yellow, and red are gradually replacing the lush green of the castle park.
Across approximately 130,000 square meters, fragrant lime, plane, and chestnut trees stand, shady streams babble, and sunny clearings are nestled. Also situated within the park is the 2500m2 large castle garden. There, autumn vegetables such as tomatoes, eggplants, chili, bell peppers, savoy cabbage, red cabbage, pole beans, and pumpkins are currently being diligently harvested, and some summer vegetables, especially cucumbers and zucchini, can still be enjoyed.

A special ambiance is created in the 25 single and double rooms through a bright atmosphere and high-quality natural materials, with views over the English parkland to Lake Constance or into the Appenzell hills.
Wartegg Castle pampers its guests to the highest standards in its organic restaurant. Herbs, vegetables, berries, and flowers come from its own biodynamic castle and ProSpecieRara variety garden. This results in refined Slow Food at Gault Millau level, complemented by free-range meat and Lake Constance fish.
Preparing for Autumn
During this season, diligent clearing and pruning are carried out around the hotel and in the castle park. New plants are being planted in place of the diseased and removed sequoias and beeches. The bees in the park are cared for with a specially developed treatment, which consists of chive water, among other things, instead of the controversial formic acid. The sheep will soon have their hooves trimmed, and the planned dry stone walls will be completed by experienced gardener Matthias Thalmann. Autumn can come; the castle is ready.

The expansive castle park also offers the opportunity to celebrate an unforgettable open-air wedding ceremony in an enchanting setting. Surrounded by venerable trees, with the castle in the background – a wedding with an extra romantic touch is guaranteed.
