Getting to Kräuterhotel Edelweiss is an unusual experience that only heightens the anticipation for a special stay. As Rigi is car-free, the 3-star hotel can only be reached by the Rigi railway or on foot. Even on the ascent to 1550 m above sea level, you catch a first glimpse of the herb garden, which is the source of the excellent natural cuisine, boasting 16 GaultMillau points and 1 Michelin star. The Vitznau-Rigi railway stops directly in front of the hotel, which offers 21 cozy, sustainable hotel rooms and breathtaking panoramic views of the Swiss Alps and the beauty of nature. Once you arrive, you won't want to leave.
The Herb Paradise above Lake Lucerne
In the approximately 1,500 square meter garden, an enormous variety of herbs and edible plants from all over the world thrive. Not only does host Gregor Vörös invest a lot of work and passion into the herbal offerings, but the kitchen and service staff also spend one of their five working days in the garden, thus gaining a direct connection to the herb selection.
The world of herbs not only helps the restaurant achieve independence, but it also increasingly enables the kitchen team to forgo industrially produced and imported products. You won't find conventional lemonades on the drinks menu here. Instead, homemade versions made from orange marigolds, lemon-scented geraniums, or cola herb are in no way inferior to the classics.
