Hotel Promenade, Schaffhausen
The quiet Hotel Promenade is located in the heart of Schaffhausen, yet surrounded by greenery.
Hotel Promenade is located in the center of Schaffhausen, just a few steps from the old town. At the same time, it is surrounded by a park. The former residence of the Baden customs administration is nestled in a green area that includes paths, benches, and a grotto. A barefoot path with a subsequent Kneipp application leads through the park, creating moments of awareness. The place oscillates between urban bustle and peaceful retreat. This tension forms the backdrop for the artistic works. They are present in the outdoor space and architectural context, interacting with the established surroundings.
Five works by the artist Adrian Bütikofer are on display. He is interested in the interplay between humans and their environment. The starting point is often an inner feeling seeking an external form. The works emerge from the tension between strength and fragility, appearing as three-dimensional images in space.
Furthermore, an intriguing installation by Gianin Conrad can be discovered in the garden. His works focus on space, form, and void. As a trained stone sculptor, he thinks close to the material and site-specifically. The void is understood as an active element. His works respond to architectural and spatial situations, exploring the relationship between contemporary sculpture and place.
At Hotel Promenade, nature, city, and art converge in close quarters. The works address the transitions that characterize the location and invite visitors to consciously perceive space.
