Casas de los Idolos
The sculptures from the series «Casas de los Idolos» are hollow houses on long legs with windows and doors, but without a floor.
Each house is marked with a symbol: a fish, a palm tree, or a tree. Through the symbols assigned to them, the empty houses are interpreted as shells for various characters, individuals, or principles. In this sense, they represent the dwelling of a soul.
All of Max Roth's sculptures are always crafted from a single piece and not assembled, even though they appear to consist of various parts. They are spaces conceived from the void, interpenetrating and intertwined. These are shells whose empty form becomes vessels for ideas and content, leaving room for individual interpretations.
