The series "Couples" was created during an extended work cycle. Alois Hermann was inspired by subtle moments of encounter in couples' everyday lives. To create the figures, Alois Hermann employs his skill and many years of experience working with a chainsaw. For him, a figure is complete when it looks back at him.
These wooden sculptures serve as templates for the bronze casts. Through this transformation process – the conversion into bronze – the organic material wood is given virtually unlimited longevity. This creates something very precious.
