Dance of Life I

The 'Couples' series was created during an extended period of work. Alois Hermann was inspired by subtle moments of encounter in couples' everyday lives. To create the figures, Alois Hermann employs his skill and many years of experience working with a chainsaw. For him, a figure is complete when it looks back at him.

These wooden sculptures serve as templates for the bronze castings. Through this transformation process – the conversion into bronze – the organic material wood is given almost unlimited longevity. This creates something very precious.
