Rosi Weiss sculpts characters from storm-felled and fallen wood using a chainsaw. Posture, color, and material define their expression.
Rosi Weiss studied Art Education at ZHdK and further trained as a puppet performer and maker. She works with fallen and storm-felled wood. The material remains raw and unadulterated. Saw marks, cracks, and textures are an integral part of the work. Using a chainsaw, she creates figures that display posture and presence. The process is open-ended; ideas, experience, and the unexpected intertwine. After sculpting, the figures are painted with acrylics. Color enhances their expression and gives them individuality. The works interact with their surroundings and the people who encounter them.
