Marcel Bernet's figures emerge directly from the tree trunk, narrating the complexities of human existence.
Marcel Bernet is a sculptor living in Zurich. Since 2009, he has been creating figurative wooden sculptures, initially shaped with a chainsaw and then refined with a brush. His direct engagement with the material defines his working method. The figures emerge from the wood, retaining traces of the process. He selectively adds color and pigments. Bernet is self-taught and deepened his practice through courses at various art schools. His works revolve around human experiences, attitudes, and relationships. They possess a narrative quality without being prescriptive.
