Hotel FloraAlpina, Vitznau
The Hotel FloraAlpina is situated on the Lucerne Riviera, nestled between Lake Lucerne and Mount Rigi. The park, architecture, and expansive surroundings define this unique location.
The Hotel FloraAlpina is situated in an open location above Lake Lucerne. Mount Rigi forms the backdrop, and the water offers expansive views. The building, constructed between 1938 and 1941, is set within a park landscape designed by landscape architect Gustav Ammann. His plantings combine native and exotic species, reflecting a personal, artistic understanding of garden architecture. The white building maintains a deliberate relationship with its naturally evolved surroundings. Its own vegetable garden and a greenhouse connect to the site's traditions. Architecture and landscape remain dynamic, changing with the light and seasons.
Karin Hofer's works are presented in this context. The artist has focused on sculpture since 2015. The starting point for many of her pieces is solid wood, which she shapes with a chainsaw. These rough volumes are then further refined and sometimes complemented with natural pigments. In addition to wood, a marble artwork is also on display. Her practice is characterized by introspection and reactions to current global events. The works are created through a concentrated, material-focused process.
