Granges-Paccot

Auberge aux 4 Vents welcomes guests to the historic Grandfey manor, set within an expansive park. A French garden, fruit trees, and ancient beech trees characterize the grounds. The artwork «Red Line in a Landscape» by Christopher T. Hunziker is particularly showcased here.

Auberge aux 4 Vents is located in an 18th-century manor house on the Grandfey estate. Seven rooms open onto the park, incorporating the natural surroundings into their design. An annex complements the ensemble. The terrace connects the house and garden, creating a seamless transition to the outdoors. The park spans over four hectares. A French garden, an orchard, and a small forest structure the grounds. Two ancient beech trees gave the place its name. Paths lead to the Sarine River and Lake Schiffenen. From here, views open up to the city of Fribourg, its cathedral, and the pre-Alps. The garden is publicly accessible and part of a vibrant landscape.

It is in this context that the artwork «Red Line in a Landscape» by Christopher T. Hunziker is situated. In his practice, the artist combines public art with light installations, spatial concepts, and sculptural works. Architecture, landscape, and urban environments form the starting point of his considerations. He is interested in questions of perception, orientation, and social structure. His work responds to existing locations and intervenes in them. At the Grandfey estate, it encounters the historic architecture and the open park landscape.
