Whale ship with rudder
Adrian Künzi is featuring several wooden ship sculptures at the Parkhotel Brenscino in Brissago.
The ships stand on wobbly stilts; they are not perfectly stable – they fight against gravity. His ships are crafted from oak wood, carved with a chainsaw as a direct, physical tool. The heavy, resistant wood meets the fragile construction – a play between mass and apparent weightlessness. The ships stand elevated, detached from the ground, as if they are already on a journey.
Adrian Künzi is interested in lightness: visually, statically, and symbolically. The stilts not only bear weight but also convey the idea of uncertainty and balance. At the same time, the ships represent a journey into myth. As a vessel between worlds, between reality and imagination, between departure and uncertainty.

Adrian Künzi creates powerful wooden works using various chainsaws. The saw marks become part of the sculpture.
