Table Ship, Set of 2
Adrian Künzi is showcasing several wooden ship objects at the Parkhotel Brenscino in Brissago.
The ships stand on wobbly stilts; they are not perfectly balanced – they fight against gravity. His ships are crafted from oak wood, milled with a chainsaw as a direct, physical tool. The heavy, resistant wood meets the fragile construction – a play between mass and apparent weightlessness. The ships stand elevated, detached from the ground, as if they were already on a journey.
Adrian Künzi is interested in the concept of lightness: visual, static, and symbolic. The stilts not only bear weight but also the idea of uncertainty and balance. Simultaneously, the ships represent a journey into myth. They serve as a vessel between worlds, between reality and imagination, between departure and uncertainty.
