His current works explore two natural archetypes: the egg and the rock. The egg symbolizes origin and renewal. The rock, however, bears the marks of time.

Four works by Marc Reist are presented in the garden of the Klosterhotel Kreuz in Mariastein.

The egg shape defines the forms Marc Reist has been working on for years. The egg as a symbol of nascent life. From the egg shape, not yet visible, the future will emerge, and the egg itself thus stands between past and future. In the present. The precious moment of the present, in which we rarely live, is that brief instant when all future possibilities become real.

All human cultures are nourished by the egg daily. Handling this fragile shell requires the utmost care to prevent it from breaking. This is also one reason why Marc Reist appreciates the egg shape as a form for his works. It is this attention that is largely missing in the thinking and actions of today's world. An impulse for change is needed.

"For me, the egg shape embodies mindfulness and sensitivity – a counterweight to the often harsh, noisy world around us." - Marc Reist
