The discrete form of space
Max Roth
The theme of the sculpture series is interpenetrating (hollow) bodies: tetrahedron, sphere, cone, and cuboid. These are analogous to the four elements fire, water, air, and earth – and these in turn represent energy, emotions, spirit, and matter.

The sculpture appears to be composed of individual parts, but it consists of a single monolithic piece, crafted from a tree trunk. The monolithic nature of the sculpture indicates that although the elements emerge from each other, they are interdependent and in mutual interaction – inextricably interwoven, a woven reality.
