Markus Graf combines his deep understanding of metalwork with artistic vision in his work as a sculptor.

Born in Winterthur in 1962, Markus Graf has been working as a freelance artist in his own studio in Frauenfeld since the 1990s. He is a trained blacksmith and studied at the Sculpture School in Müllheim. In his studio, he processes iron and steel using classic blacksmithing techniques. Heat, weight, and resistance of the material define the working process. The sculptures emerge from minimal interventions and clear compositions. They range from smaller works to large-scale sculptures in public spaces. Graf is interested in the interplay of stillness and movement, as well as the spatial presence of metal.
