Space, tension, and stability are central to Gabriel Mazenauer's work. He creates large-scale sculptures using iron and stone.
Born in Wil SG in 1970, Gabriel Mazenauer works as a sculptor. After training as a carpenter and an apprenticeship as a stone sculptor, he studied at the Müllheim School of Sculpture. Since the mid-1990s, he has worked as a freelance artist in Wigoltingen, Thurgau. His practice focuses on large-scale iron and stone sculptures. He is interested in questions of tension, space, and static balance. Many of his works are created for public spaces and sculpture parks. Material, weight, and construction are as much a part of the process as the specific location for which the works are developed.
