Hotel ODELYA, Basel
Located in the heart of Basel, yet surrounded by greenery, Hotel ODELYA is housed in a heritage-protected building with an extensive park. Here, city and nature meet in close proximity.
Hotel ODELYA is located just a few steps from Basel's Old Town. The historic building is surrounded by the city's largest private park. Paths, benches, and a natural garden with fruit trees and herbs create a sheltered space amidst the urban environment. The new building complements the existing architecture, connecting past and present. The park is an integral part of daily life at the hotel. It offers both seclusion and openness. Amidst the sounds of the city and the rustling of leaves, a balance of movement and tranquility emerges.
A work by Susan Kopp stands in the park. After an initial career, she turned to art and has been working as a freelance artist since 2013. In her sculptures, she works with stone, wood, and other materials. The process is characterized by direct contact and physical labor. In painting, she also translates inner images into color. Figurative and abstract elements intertwine.
In the park and the hotel's architectural surroundings, her work interacts with space and environment. Form, material, and personal perception are central. This creates an encounter between the city, the garden, and a contemporary artistic position, allowing space for quiet contemplation.
